Self-Advocate Blog: Meet Karli!

Meet Karli!

Karli with her dog Karli is a self-advocate from Winona, Minnesota. Karli has been involved with The Arc Minnesota for 12 years now. She found out about the Arc through the Housing Access Services program when she was thinking about moving out on her own.

Since 2009, she has been a part of Self-Advocates Minnesota Southeast (SAM SE) through The Arc Minnesota, where she has served as Media/Legislation, Historian, Vice Chair, and Currently Chair. Karli has also attended Leadership circle meetings and have helped with other Self-Advocacy events and activities over the years.

Karli says that getting involved with self-advocacy has “changed my life tremendously and become a really big passion of mine.” Another reason why she loves self-advocacy is meeting new friends and the support system it brings.

Besides being involved in self-advocacy, Karli enjoys spending time with her family and hanging out with friends. She loves playing with her nephews and spending time with her dog Lady Pugglesworth.

Thanks for sharing, Karli!

Self-advocates write bios, blogs, and stories about themselves and their passions. These blog posts connect self-advocates to each other. If you would like to share a blog post, please email DhanyaDelehanty@arcminnesota.org
