What You Need to Know about The Arc’s Privacy Policy
The Arc collects Personal and Non-Personal information

When you browse our website, you do so anonymously. Personal information is not collected, unless you voluntarily provide us with information as described below. To improve performance and design of the website and provide better service, The Arc tracks site usage through information captured in log files. The information collected is basic statistical data, such as channels and sections viewed, time of access and amount of time spent on pages, search phrases used to reach the Arc’s site, and browser type. This information is non-personal and is collected in the aggregate.

Through The Arc website, you may choose to become a member, donate, join our Action Alert grassroots network, join one of our e-Communities or subscribe to The Arc’s e-newsletter. The personal information collected through these transactions includes name, address, phone number, email address, and, when you make a financial transaction, your credit card number.

By voluntarily providing your email address to The Arc Minnesota by becoming a member, joining one of our email distribution lists, submitting information through a form, or working with The Arc Minnesota staff, you are opting in to receive further email communications via our email service provider or staff at The Arc Minnesota. These emails may include surveys, events, and other promotional materials. You can opt out of emails at any time by unsubscribing at the link in your emails, or by emailing info@arcminnesota.org

The Arc’s use of “cookies”

A cookie is a small amount of data stored as a text file. The data contains a unique identification number assigned by our system that recognizes your browser when you come to The Arc website, but does not recognize you as an individual. These cookies remain on your system and are automatically retrieved when you return to our website later. Changing your personal information or discontinuing communications

The Arc maintains record of all requests made by donors or their representatives, indicating they do not wish to be solicited and/or contacted by or on behalf of the agency. The Arc staff, board of directors, volunteers, professional fundraisers or other agents will not willfully or knowingly engage in communications and/or solicitation activities that cause donors to feel threatened or intimidated.

Upon receipt of a “no solicitation” request, either verbally or in writing, The Arc will discontinue contacting donor for solicitation. If the donor wishes to continue receiving non-solicitation materials, then the donor’s database file will be marked “no solicitation” and deleted from all solicitation mailing lists. He/she will continue to receive communications that are not soliciting donations.

Upon receipt of a “discontinue contact” request, either verbally or in writing, The Arc will discontinue contacting donor either by mail and/or by phone, per the specific request of the donor. The donor’s database file will be marked “do not contact” and deleted from mailing lists and/or phoning campaigns.

You can change your personal information anytime by simply going to Contact Us. You may also unsubscribe by sending an e-mail to info@arcminnesota.org.

Children’s Privacy

The Arc website is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.

The Arc Minnesota Text Messaging Service Privacy Policy

Costs of Text Messages

We do not charge you for the messages you send and receive via this text message service. But message and data rates may apply, so depending on your plan with your wireless or other applicable provider, you may be charged by your carrier or other applicable provider.

Frequency of Text Messages

This Text Messaging Service is for conversational person-to-person communication between you and our employees. We may send you an initial message providing details about the service. After that, the number of text messages you receive will vary depending on how you use our services and whether you take steps to generate more text messages from us (such as by sending a HELP request).

Opting Out of Text Messages

If you no longer want to receive text messages, you may reply to any text message with STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE. As a person-to-person communication service, opt-out requests are specific to each conversation between you and one of our employees and their associated phone number. After unsubscribing, we may send you confirmation of your opt-out via text message.
