Want to get involved, but have limited time? Here are some ideas:
Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores
Unpack, sort and tag donations such as clothing, household goods, books, toys, etc. at an Arc’s Value Village store in Richfield, New Hope, St. Paul or Bloomington. You can work individually or with a team and hours are flexible: days, evenings and weekends, seven days a week! Sign up online at arcsvaluevillage.org/volunteer.
The Arc Gala
Volunteers are needed for The Arc’s annual Gala, our largest fundraising event, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot. Volunteers can make in-depth contributions through committee involvement (auction, sponsorship or guest experience) or assist with activities on the day/evening of the event. Day and evening of event activities include silent auction set-up, auction spotting, coat check, registration, clean-up or a host of other tasks. Shifts are 3-4 hours in length and run from 9 am until midnight.
Community Impact Opportunities
Assist with civic engagement and systems change by telling your story, speaking with legislators or letting the public know about the issues impacting the disability community. Volunteers can participate by hosting a home visit, participating in Get Out the Vote activities, Tuesdays at the Capital, Disability Day at the Capital and a host of other activities.
Allycia Wolff, Advocate at The Arc, explains how volunteering directly supports people with disabilities in this short video.
