St. Paul, Minnesota – June 12, 2026 – The Arc Minnesota expresses concern about the disenrollment of thousands of disability services providers during the provider revalidation process that ended on May 31, 2026.
While we support the state’s efforts to address fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicaid programs, the revalidation process has caused unnecessary harm to people with IDD and the providers who support them.
The state was not transparent with the public about its progress in revalidating providers before the May 31 deadline. As a result, providers and people with IDD were caught off-guard when providers were disenrolled and services were suddenly cut off. Many providers have chosen to appeal their disenrollment and continue providing services, but others have not. This process has left some people with IDD without the services and supports they depend on.
For example, one family affected includes a mother of six who has cerebral palsy and two children with disabilities, including one child who tends to elope. Until June 1, 2026, caregivers supported the family in their home and helped keep the child safe. After their provider was disenrolled, the family lost those services and is now without critical support.
A solution must be found that prioritizes continuity of care while also addressing fraud that has not only cost taxpayers’ money but has also deprived Medicaid recipients of the services and supports they need.

The Arc Minnesota provided feedback to the Minnesota Senate Human Services Committee before a hearing that was scheduled for June 9, 2026. We were disappointed to learn that the hearing was postponed until July 1 and urge the Committee to hold the hearing sooner. People with disabilities are being affected now, and they cannot afford to wait for a solution.
