Self-Advocate Blog: Meet Debbie!

Debbie, a self-advocate from Bloomington, MinnesotaDebbie is a self-advocate from Bloomington, Minnesota. She has been a self-advocate for several years and is part of a self-advocacy group called “Self-Advocate Advisory Committee.” She also helps host and support our Happy Hour event. This is an event where self-advocates come together to chat, play games, and have fun every Thursday evening.

Debbie’s favorite part about being in a self-advocate group is meeting and talking to people. She shared that she is good at communicating and advocating for her own needs and desires. In her lifetime, she has shared her story with many people and groups and continue to do so when opportunities arise.

Outside of being a self-advocate, Debbie participates in Special Olympics sports of golf, soccer, softball, and tennis! She is looking forward to participating in Special Olympics this summer. She also likes to listen to music, watch movies, knit, and make artwork. She also spends time with her dog Trapper, who is a beagle.

Thanks for sharing, Debbie!

Self-advocates write bios, blogs, and stories about themselves and their passions. These blog posts connect self-advocates to each other. If you would like to share a blog post, please email DhanyaDelehanty@arcminnesota.org
